Hockey is Canada’s game, we are like one big family

Hockey is Canada’s game.

Thesis: The game of hockey makes Canadians come together and cheer their team on, which reveals how we are one big family.

Many people in Canada love watching hockey. Many families across Canada come together to cheer their team on. People gather at cold hockey arenas,  bars, clubs, and houses with their friends to watch hockey. This shows how we are one big family. Although some people may not enjoy watching hockey, they always seem to watch The world juniors and the olympics. This goes to show you that hockey can make Canadians come together and cheer their team on. Which proves ow we are like one big family when it comes to the sport hockey.

This image shows a player with his right fist in the air celebrating. Every four years we gather with our friends and families to watch the olympics. Hockey is one of the most watched games at the olympics in Canada. We gather together at our houses, bars, clubs,  ice arenas and even listening to the games on the radio, with friends, family and other fans. A textual element that is used is facial expressions, it is shown on one of the best hockey player in the world by the name Sidney Crosby. Sidney's face portrays how happy he is playing for his country and winning the gold medal. The photographer  zooms in on his face to show the joy and relief of him and team Canada winning the gold medal. Crosby's mouth is wide open which shows how he is enthusiastic and proud to be playing for his nation.  His gloves are off which means he threw them off to celebrate his team winning, this shows happiness. This image is demonstrates how one sport can have such an impact on the nation in a good way. To add, the fans in the background are jumping up and down screaming and hugging each other, and not to mention on fan is holding a sign up that says “hockey is Canada’s game”. This proves that the game of hockey makes Canadians come to together and cheer their team on which reveals how we are one big family. We are one big family because no matter if we win or lose we will always support our Canadian hockey team.

In this image we see a number of great hockey players. These players are the the reason why we watch hockey. There great people to look up too and their entertaining to hockey viewers. In this image we notice the facial expressions that these NHL players are posing, which is confidence, pride, determination, loyalty and honour. All these traits are part of the reason why we watch hockey. We don't just watch hockey because it's entertaining but because it gives many people across Canada a chance to come together, and watch a beautiful game. A textual element that is presented in this image is the background.  In the background we see a quote “It's more than a game”. This is absolutely true hockey can define you for who you are. To add, it celebrates the spirit, traditions and compelling stories behind one of the fastest and most challenging sports in the world. Furthermore, the game allows to have more debate topics on Sportscenter and highlights to recap the games from the previous night. In this image its shows ten great playoff hockey players, which means that during the playoffs we have more people gathering together to do playoff sportif things. Such as playoff beards, haircuts, buying a bigger tv for the games, and buying jerseys and hats to cheer their team on. This shows that hockey influences people to do things that they don't normally do. This proves how hockey can make Canadians come together and cheering their team on, which does reveal how we are one big family.

This image shows a man in a suit pointing at his viewer. This man happens to be Don Cherry who is a Canadian ice hockey commentator for CBC television. He is a sports writer, as well as a retired professional hockey player and NHL coach.  A textual element in this photo is the body language and gaze. His body language is expressing confidence, loyalty, reliability, and trust. This picture symbolizes how one man can have such a big influence on hockey for Canada in a positive way. Every Saturday night on coach's corner Don Cherry comes on after the first intermission to give his thoughts and opinions on the game of hockey. He also recognizes the Canadian soldiers who have past away in the war. His posture in this image is revealing how he wants his message to reach across to many proud Canadian hockey fans. His suit suggests that he likes dressing classy and wants to be noticed as a man who's not afraid to voice his opinions and wear what he wants to wear. In this image we can see that he is not smiling and looks very serious, the reason for this is he always has something on his mind and if is laughing or smirking people won't take him seriously. The man in this photo Don Cherry helps to make Canadians come together and cheer their team on, which proves that we are one big family.

In this image we see a teenage boy holding some sort of trophy with a smile on his face. The photographer took this photo to emphasizes how important this game was and how great this player is. A textual element that is present in this photo is focus. The image is focusing on one guy who won a gold medal at the world juniors. The image demonstrates how happy athletes can be winning something big. This partial athlete in this photo is expected to be the next Sidney Crosby. This photo is actually very important because it proves how one player can make many Canadians talk about him and come together to watch him play. The image is also focusing on the red, white and black Canadian jersey which shows how hockey in Canada is our sport and if we come together like a family we can win championships and medals as a nation. The cheerful smiley face symbolizes how hard he has work to get to this point, and how he's relieved on winning the gold medal. We are like one big family because we come together and cheer our teams on which proves that hockey makes Canadians reunite.

In conclusion the game of hockey is more than a game on ice, it's a chance to bond with our friends, and family. We also can make new friends and develop the relationships that we had before stronger and more powerful. This is why the game of hockey makes Canadians come together and cheer their team on, which reveals how we are one big family. We reunited to build upon our nation sport hockey and to develop the broken relationships through hockey. The game of hockey brings excitement and joy to many Canadians which we can say we are like one big family.

  1. I think that this blog was very well written. I think hat it is an interesting topic to write about. I think that your thesis is well proven with the images you used. It is true that people come together at the Olympics. Personally I do not watch hockey but I do watch the Olympics with my friends and family. It truly is Canada's game. Finally I like how you used Don Cherry in an image because I also think he truly brings Canada together.
