Imprisonment of Technology

We live in a world that relies on technology, where one can not go a day without it. Everyone in our society has access to some sort of technology or internet. It has come that our society is relying on technology to help run our society. Technology has indeed put boundaries on our life from our perception versus reality. Although modern technology seems to emancipate us it in fact gives us more boundaries. Currently in our society people are so tied up in technology that they have become trapped.

The image (above) portrays a person sitting locked inside a room tied up with all the wires trapped with their technology. The artist uses very dull colours in this image to avert the person's eye towards the technology being so bright that it is essentially take over the person's ability to get up and leave, therefore trapping them. The wires that come from the technology is symbolic because they tie up the person in the picture trapping them making them unable to move or walk away from the technology that is in front of them. The person in the image has completely isolated himself from reality and has been trapped by the overload of technology and has put boundaries on his life.

The image (above) portrays two people who have their cell phone chained to their hands trapped to revolve on their technology. The artist uses black and white in the image to show that the person can only see what is going on within their technology and do not know what is going on without around them. Then foreground of this photo makes the viewer feel like they are trapped in this person's body and can only see their technology and can not see anything else around them. Therefore the person has limited themselves to only looking into their technology and not paying attention to reality.

The image (above) shows the viewer that a person is lost and trapped in technology when people's lives revolve around technology. The lighting is the picture catches the viewer's eye to attract their attention to the bright screen to show that its the problem in the photo, where the outside is dark around the person who is lost in their technology. Then the background of the photo is black which resembles how the reality of the world does not matter because the person was lost in technology. Therefore the technology in the photo has put boundaries on this person's life and has made them lost.

The image (above) shows how people can get so caught up in their technology it limits them from what they do in reality. The use of black and white in the photo shows how the person in the picture is lost in their technology and how the technology has limited their life. The background of the photo is a wooden floor which represents how the person’s life is limited their life and not allowed to leave their technology because they are lost without it. Therefore the person in the image has got so caught up in their technology that they never realized the boundaries that comes along with it.

Technology can be very useful to our society, but people tend to think it emancipates us but in reality it gives us more boundaries. Modern technology has people lost in it and unable to tell from perception from reality. In fact making people unsure and not knowing what is truly important in our lives other than our cellphones or other pieces of technology.

  1. I noticed that it made me conscious about how much I used my phone and computer for the rest of the day. Your thesis tie really well to your photos and the the rest of the blog. Your information was very interesting and the photos you chose described your topic very well.

  2. This is a great topic to cover. Your blog had me interested from the beginning until the end. Ive always seen technology in this way but ignored the fact that it put boundaries on my life due to how convenient technology has become. Your thesis is clearly proven throughout the pictures in your blog. Your first picture really caught my attention because I know people that are like that person in the photo. It disturbs me to see people trapped in the world of technology but theres nothing I can do about it. The advancement in technology in our society will keep improving our lives but at the same time destroy our social lives and our relationship with nature. The second photo with the phone chained to the arm symbolizes almost every teenager in our society. Wherever you go you will always see someone tied to their phone missing out on the events happening right in front of them. I agree that the black and white in the last photo really highlights the limitations technology puts on humans. Overall this is a great blog!
