Rights of Women In Afghanistan

The image “God has not given you equal right” conveys a very powerful message to the world about the culture of Afghanistan and where women really stand in their society. Women are treated unequally in this society , like they do not have a voice or say in their decisions. As if they don’t even own themselves but the men do and control everything they do. Just like the title states these women do not have equal rights. In this photo there are so many men, and only one women, as though she is being overpowered by these men, like the men are more important. We do not see the woman's face either, why is this ? Its like she is invisible, the fact that she is there doesn't matter. We know nothing about her. By why are the men’s faces showing? Because in this society they are important, they have all the rights.. they’re voices are the only ones that are important and looked up to. Its as though this women in this photo is just a shadow, nothing more, the men do not even acknowledge that she is there. She is the focal in this image, so important to our views on their society, but not important to them. The image is a huge eye opener for the world and demonstrates powerfully how these women are really treated in this society, how much different it is than here in Canada. The photo is so simple yet so moving and compelling. It really gets across the message of the mistreatment of women in Afghanistan.
