The sun shines for the men

The photo, “God has not given you equal rights” displays sexism in the Afghan culture with the message of a man being higher up, better than a woman who has to stay in the shadows.  The light of the photo displays happiness and all being well in the men's minds. They can see the sun and enjoy it. The women on the other hand is stuck under layers of clothing from head to toe, covered from the light, from the happiness and freedom. You can not see her face, her emotion, this mirrors the idea that her emotion does not matter, does not need to be seen. The males on the other hand are smiling, full face showing. The males also outnumber the women, symbolizing strength and power in favor of the men.
